Lately, in moving up to New York, I have been doing a lot of schlepping between Philly and the Big Apple. It’s a process I have been doing for a bit now, but, sadly, it will soon come to an end, and I will no longer be able to say “I’m going home.”
I just want everyone I love from Philly to know: You can take the Eagles fan out of the city of Philadelphia, but you cannot make her a Giants fan in New York.
That is a promise.
This weekend I am back in Philly for one of the last times, spending some quality time with the city I love so much. (And, sadly, a bunch of boxes.)
This bittersweet realization made me think of one of my favorites scenes from Almost Famous, and it’s one I know everyone can appreciate.
I don’t care what anyone says – I love you, Philly.
Happy Friday, party people.
This is a brilliant example of the synergy created when film and music are merged successfully. I can’t hear “Tiny Dancer” without picturing this scene on the bus. I even forgot that the original song has a slight bridge right before the chorus. I assume they removed this for the sake of continuity and pacing.
Here is another example of a director who picks the right song EVERY time. Classic scene:
Anyway, good luck in NYC KB. Now you will finally feel my pain being a displaced Eagles fan in Giants’ Territory
That is a great scene, Bellis! Martin always knows what he’s doing
You should really see Elizabethtown, another Cameron Crowe flick, because of the music placement. Great synergy there as well.
And thanks for the good New York wishes! Hopefully I don’t piss off too many of yours with my inability to keep my trash talking to a minimum.. but we’ll see.
I love this song! Great pick!
Dear Eagles fan,
We didn’t want you.
Love,
Big Blue Nation
Is Big Blue the color for the Bandwagon fans?
Okay, South Jerz.
Oh so you have to LIVE in the town to be a fan. Well I live in Jersey. Giants play in Jersey. You’ll live in NYC but be an Eagles fan. Let’s consult the map.
And bandwagon means we’ve at least won something but you guys still beat your chests about those NFC championships. They are “something”.
p.s. the Eagles stilll haven’t won a Super Bowl KB
love, me
